This course is essential for anyone working with cables and harnesses in whatever industry sector and provides practical support to the IPC/WHMA-A-620. This course differs from the IPC WHMA-A-620 ‘Hands On Addendum’ and does not offer the full Certification awarded by IPC.
Course overview
The content of the course is formed around the procedures of cable preparation, hand crimping, soldering terminations and connectors to cable. The course also includes cables specification and the methods of wrapping cables into the loom, as well as the installation of the loom into products and enclosures.
All the topics covered are backed by practical work; whilst quality and simple test procedures are also outlined. At the end of the course each student will have acquired the skills and knowledge to prepare cables for use in cable loom and harness assemblies.
Assessments at the end of the areas covered will result in The Electronics Group pass certificate being awarded to candidates who achieve the required standard. Within this programme students will also be able to take an IPC course of study and receive the IPC Wire Harness Assembly Methods DVD 56-C certificate on successful completion of that course.
